Black Friday was a day in for me. That's right, I caved all day. I live less than a mile from some of the best shopping in Northern Virginia and I didn't grab my keys once. Sure, I had a little list of incidentals: pillows, bed skirt, room fresheners - petty stuff. Nothing that was worth mixing it up with shoppers from far and wide to save $10.00 on though. The last time I was out on Black Friday was in 2009 when I got a television.
Two days later on this Sunday morning, my list still beckons yet I'm reflective on the reasons for my lack of motivation. Sitting in my comfy little space at home with Mona Lisa, warm, having had a good breakfast with coffee, and my phone beeping away I'm not lacking anything. I've done my Christmas shopping already and made plans for a December getaway. Since I have no children to shop for anymore, gift cards and cash don't require me to stand in line and I feel no need to hustle out when I've got everything I need. The things I want have found their way into my possession by the grace of God in spite of myself.
My petty little list is still sitting here though and I must admit that I do want to see what's happening at the mall. Never thought I'd want to go to there just to be nosy - smile.
